Di-Ethylene Glycol can be transported in Epoxy coated MS tankers. It can be stored in MS containers lined with baked phenolic resin / air drying epoxy phenolic resin or vinyl resin. It is advisable to store Di-Ethylene Glycol in a cool, dry place with good ventilation - away from heat, sparks or flames.

Applications :

  • Unsaturated Polyester Resins: Polyester resins derived from Di-Ethylene Glycol are flexible in nature. They are used as low pressure laminates for glass fibers, asbestos, cloth and paper.
  • Coolants: Di-Ethylene Glycol can be used in cooling systems as it increases the boiling temperature considerably there by enabling the coolant perform more effectively in carrying off the excess heat generated by auto engines.
  • Pesticides: Di-Ethylene Glycol is primarily used to encapsulate granules of phorate pesticide.
  • Rubber Compounding: For coloured rubber products such as hawai chappals, Di-Ethylene Glycol is used as an additive along with silica filler compounds to prevent the absorption of other ingredients such as the accelerator used in the rubber compounds.
  • Plasticizer: Benzoic acid is esterified with Di-Ethylene Glycol to produce Di-Ethylene Glycol Dibenzoate . It finds an application as plasticizer in PVC Compounds , PVA adhesives and moulded urethanes.
  • Polyurethane foams: Di-Ethylene Glycol is condensed with adipic acid or other poly functional acids to give polyurethane intermediate which upon polymerisation with di-iso-cyanate and subsequent reaction with water form polyurethane foams.
  • Textile Auxiliaries: Di-Ethylene Glycol is used as a hygroscopic agent in textile printing. The fact that it is completely miscible in water as well as many organic chemicals, makes it suitable as a solvent in many auxiliary formulations.
  • Polyethylene Glycols: Di-Ethylene Glycol reacts with EO to form higher polyethylene glycols which find application in pharmaceutical, brake fluids, cosmetics.
  • Paints: Di-Ethylene Glycol is used as a modifier in the manufacture of alkyd resins used in formulating paints.
  • Grinding Aid: Used as a grinding aid in Cement industry, in order to achieve higher fineness and smooth mill operations, increase throughput and also reduces energy consumption.

  • It is used for control of Acute Respiratory Diseases.
  • It is used as a dehydrating agent for natural gas pipelines where it removes the water from the gas before being condensed and reused in the system.

First Aid Measures

Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid.

Skin: Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid if irritation develops or persists.

Ingestion: If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid.

Inhalation: Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.

We are Authorized Dealers of Reliance Industries Ltd. for Mono Ethylene Glycol.

Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) is a colorless, virtually odorless and slightly viscous liquid. It is miscible with water, alcohols, aldehydes and many organic compounds. MEG will not dissolve rubber, cellulose acetate or heavy vegetable and petroleum oils. MEG has a low volatility and it is 50% more hygroscopic than glycerol at room temperature.

Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) is the most widely used chemical from the Glycol family. It is an essential raw material for Polyester fibres and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) polymer. MEG based products are also used as coolants in Automobile antifreeze, resins, humectants for paper etc.

MEG can be transported in Epoxy coated MS tankers. It can be stored in MS containers lined with baked phenolic resin / air drying epoxy phenolic resin or vinyl resin. It is advisable to store MEG in a cool, dry place with good ventilation - away from heat, sparks or flames.

Applications:

1. Polyester

Mono Ethylene Glycol is an essential raw material for Polyester. Ethylene Glycol reacts with PTA to produce polyester.

2. Adhesives, Sealants and Coatings

Mono Ethylene Glycol and D-Ethylene Glycol is used in latex based paint formulation. These glycols are also used to produce acrylate and methacrylate resins for coatings, adhesives, and paints.

3. Alkyd Resins for Paints and Coatings

Mono Ethylene Glycol is used as a reactant in the manufacture of Alkyd resins which are used in Paints, enamels and varnishes.

4. Antifreeze

Ethylene Glycol (MEG) is used as an active ingredient in engine coolants and antifreeze, offering benefits including a high boiling point, low vapor pressure, excellent heat transfer abilities, and the ability to depress the freezing point of water.

5. Others

We offer Ethylene Glycol that is miscible with water in all proportions. It is widely used in the production of antifreeze, coolants, aircraft, anticancer and deicers & solvents. Apart from this it is also used in the manufacturing of polyester (PET) resins, films and fibers.

Uses:
Coolant and heat-transfer agent: The major use of ethylene glycol is as a medium for convective heat transfer in, for example, automobiles and liquid-cooled computers. Ethylene glycol is also commonly used as a coolant for chilled-water air-conditioning systems that either place the chiller or air handlers outside or must cool below the freezing temperature of water. In geothermal heating/cooling systems, ethylene glycol is the fluid that transports heat through the use of a geothermal heat pump. The ethylene glycol either gains energy from the source (lake, ocean, water well) or dissipates heat to the sink, depending on whether the system is being used for heating or cooling.

Dehydrating agent:
Ethylene glycol is used in the natural gas industry to remove water vapor from natural gas before further processing, in much the same manner as triethylene glycol (TEG).

Hazards:

Ethylene glycol is moderately toxic. The major danger is due to its sweet taste, which can attract children and animals. Upon ingestion, ethylene glycol is oxidized to glycolic acid, which is, in turn, oxidized to oxalic acid, which is toxic. It and its toxic byproducts first affect the central nervous system, then the heart, and finally the kidneys. Ingestion of sufficient amounts is fatal if untreated.
